March is Aboriginal Languages Month. It’s a time to celebrate the NWT’s Aboriginal languages and encourage people to learn about and use them.
In the NWT we are very fortunate – we live in a land rich in languages and cultures. We have 11 official languages – nine of those are Aboriginal, the other two are French and English. For Aboriginal languages to survive and thrive, it’s important to promote their use every day – at home, in the community and at work.
Take part in the Aboriginal Languages Month activities in your community.
We have Aboriginal language resources, including ones to help you celebrate Aboriginal Languages Month
In 2017 we are hosting a Indigenous Languages Month Video Challenge.
