How Do You Use Technology?

How Do You Use Technology?

We're celebrating NWT Literacy Week September 25 through to October 1.

Each year we choose a theme that explores the connection that literacy and essential skills have to many aspects of our lives. This year, the theme is Tied to Tech. Technology has so many benefits, like helping us connect to the world, or learn a new language, but it also can be addictive, or lead to bullying and strained relationships. It’s important to think about the ways we use technology, and ask ourselves if we are really in control. We hope you take some time this week to think about how technology impacts your life.

Be sure to take part in, or plan your own, NWT Literacy Week events in your community. We would love to hear about what you are doing, and we can help you promote your events. We have a contest on Facebook and Twitter this year, to help share NWT events. Each time you let us know about your NWT Literacy Week event before, during or after it happens, you will be entered in a draw for a prize pack. Post on our Facebook page, on Twitter use the hashtag #nwtlitweek, or email us at katie@nwtliteracy.ca. Let us know what you are up to, and share some photos. We will draw a winner on October 5, 2016.

NWT Literacy Week is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of learners, parents, teachers, elders and anyone else involved in supporting and promoting literacy in the NWT. There are many people working hard to develop their own literacy skills, and the skills of others around them. This week we want to extend a big thank you to everyone who helped in the field of literacy this past year.

We hope you have lots of fun celebrating literacy and lifelong learning, as well as exploring how you and your family are Tied to Tech.
